STEM & IT Bursary Opportunity for Young South Africans

The Orange South Africa Trust, in partnership with Siyakha Consulting, has opened applications for its 2026/27 STEM & IT Bursary Programme, providing financial support to eligible Black South African youth pursuing recognised qualifications in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) and Information Technology (IT).

The programme is aimed at students who demonstrate academic potential and financial need, helping reduce some of the financial barriers associated with tertiary education.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Black South African citizen
  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Matric applicants must have achieved at least 70% in Mathematics
  • Current tertiary students must be enrolled in a recognised STEM or IT qualification and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress
  • Be able to demonstrate financial need

What Support Is Available?

Depending on individual circumstances and available funding, the bursary may provide support towards:

  • Tuition fees
  • Registration fees
  • Learning materials
  • Software and equipment
  • Data
  • Accommodation, where funding and individual need permit

Required Documents

Applicants should prepare the following documentation:

  • A 500-word letter of motivation
  • Certified South African ID
  • Matric certificate, where applicable
  • Latest tertiary academic transcript, where applicable
  • Proof of registration or admission
  • Proof of financial need
  • Parent/guardian payslips and three months of bank statements, where applicable

Closing date: 30 September 2026
