NSBE 2024 AGM: THE ROLE OF ENGINEERING & LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCEIN ESKOM’S COMPLEX JOURNEY TO END LOADSHEDDING IN SOUTH AFRICA

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) continues its mission to promote diversity and excellence in South Africa’s engineering sector. The 2024 AGM, centered on “The Role of Engineering & Leadership Excellence in Eskom’s Complex Journey to End Load Shedding in South Africa,” featured keynote speaker Dan Marokane, Eskom’s Group Chief Executive, who emphasized the importance of skilled engineering and strong leadership in addressing the nation’s energy crisis.

NSBE President Mdu Mlaba reiterated the organization’s commitment to transforming the engineering industry by building an inclusive, skilled workforce. The event also saw discussions with leaders from DBSA, ECSA, and BBC, aligned with NSBE’s vision of strengthening engineering capabilities. A key moment was the signing of an MoU with TETA to support workforce development. The AGM concluded with an awards ceremony celebrating engineering excellence and progress in South Africa’s critical infrastructure sectors.
